Dan Brobander

American 1933-2011

Dan Brobander was born in Salem, Ohio in 1933. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, Brobander developed an interest in art as a teenager and went on to earn his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1953. He later settled in New York, where he opened several studios. In 1987 he was awarded the Adolph Gottlieb Foundation Grant, and a continuation grant in 1988. Brobander is represented in the collections of the Dayton Art Institute, Ohio and the Weatherspoon Museum of Art, North Carolina.
