Benoît Gilsoul, a painter and sculptor, best known for his works in stained glass, designed for Henry Lee Willet and later in his career created worked from his own studio collaborating with fabricator Thomas Venturella.

Realized stained glass works include Christ over the City at St. John’s Capuchin Monastery in New York, the façade of the Tillman Chapel entitled Man’s Search for Peace at The Church Center for the United Nations, and the Chancel, Facade and Side Windows of the Alice Millar Chapel at Northwestern University.

Additionally, Gilsoul adapted Ben Shahn’s painting of the 150th Psalm into leaded glass for the façade of the Temple Beth Zion in Buffalo and collaborated with Romare Bearden on the artist’s only stained glass work, a triptych entitled, City of Light which was commissioned by the MTA for the Westchester Square IRT Station in New York.
