About this Lot
Description
Herta Furth, Austrian-American, 3 Moroccan Street Scenes, 1 Eastern European, sepia toned ink and watercolor on paper. Artist Bio: Furth studied with Julius Klinger in Vienna and Charles Martin in Paris. Art Nouveau, Secessionism, Expressionism, and Art Deco influenced Hertha's artistic development. Her bold attitude and "wild" artistic ways ultimately played a major factor in her survival. In the 1929 believing that her artistic future lay elsewhere she emigrated to the New York City where she was a noted designer for Bloomingdale's. She held several patents for art related design. She illustrated books by Dr. William A Brams. Her work is featured in American Artist, January 1967 and 100 Watercolor Techniques by Norman Kent.
