Giacomo Porzano

Italian 1925-2006
Giacomo Porzano was born in Lerici, Italy in 1925. He studied and lived in Genoa before attending the Academy of Carrara, then attending the Faculty of Architecture in Florence. Porzano moved his artistic practice to Rome in 1959, and he took part in the Rome Quadrennial in 1965 and at the Venice Biennale in 1968. Among Porzano’s favorite themes, in addition to Italian landscapes, were portraits of friends, scenes of mundane life, and ordinary characters. Porzano died in Italy in 2006. Both the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and the Museum of Modern Art in New York have copies of his work.
