American Chippendale Slant Front Desk (1750-1774)
Description
An American Chippendale walnut slant-lid desk of rectangular form, the fall-front opening to reveal a fitted interior of arched letter compartments and small drawers flanking a central prospect door, positioned above four graduated, dovetailed long drawers and lopers, the case featuring fluted quarter-columns with double capitals over a molded base raised on ogee bracket feet with supporting pads, having been recorded by the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA S-9994).

Condition
The desk is in overall sturdy condition with a replaced backboard dating prior to 1980, exhibiting scattered surface scratches, minor finish wear, one missing brass pull from a fallboard support, and typical age-related shrinkage.
