Lot 334
An Antique Argentine Provincial Carved Cedar Cupboard (18th/19th Century)
Description
An antique Argentine Provincial carved cedar cupboard, the upper section configured with two large panel doors opening to reveal an intensive storage network of open cubby pigeonholes and three side-by-side short drawers with iron pulls, featuring hand-pegged mortise and tenon joints alongside hand-forged iron corner L-brackets, raised on an integrated base with short block legs
Details
Cedar, iron, wood pegs
81 1/2 x 47 x 23 inches
Condition
Fair condition; structural instability resulting in a slight wobble to the overall case frame, extensive historic wormage wood-boring insect degradation concentrated heavily along the upper structural cornices and lower leg sections, a major vertical shrinkage separation crack running through the right vertical corner stile, and a missing fragment to the lower corner framing rail with generalized surface abrasions consistent with rustic country use
