A French Louis XV style giltwood marquise or small canape of serpentine form, the hand-carved frame featuring a triple-arched back with caned panels and a central foliate-carved cresting, the scrolled arms continuing to a carved apron and raised on cabriole legs with scrolled terminals. The piece is fitted with a loose silk damask seat cushion featuring floral motifs and conforming piping, characteristic of nineteenth-century revival furniture.

The settee is in overall good condition, exhibiting minor surface wear including localized areas of gilt and gesso loss consistent with age, alongside generalized wear to the vintage fabric and the underlying cane panels, several areas of glue residue from old repairs
