BOOK ARTS:

Early folk “dust jacket”— crafted from an undated manuscript English vellum document (Thomas Hood’s will) for the book William Somner, The Antiquities of Canterbury, originally published in London, 1640, with title written on “spine” area.  Document names Thomas Hood, his son, Elizabeth Moulton, James Paine, John Richardson, and Tho. Winsom; margin note names Julia’s  Caesar, Proctor.  Approx 9” tall.

Rare book related artifact, cut and folded to fit, line of holes along edges (saddle stitching?) Title in early ink. Light soiling and general wear; a good example of this craft.
