A Burmese kalaga tapestry of rectangular form, featuring a central panel with two large medallions containing high-relief, padded (shwe chi doe) figures of dancers or deities mounted on caparisoned elephants, surrounded by a border of sixteen smaller arched and circular medallions each depicting a seated figure, the entire composition densely worked with metallic threads, sequins, and glass beads on a ground of scrolling floral and foliate motifs.
