Philadelphia: Lindsay and Blakiston, 1851. Large 12mo, bound in sixes (7 7/8 x 4 3/4in; 200 x 121mm). Pp.[v-]viii-xii, [13-]416 + 20 pages publishers advertisement. (Some spotting). Publisher’s leather binding, sewn into a 'waterproof' semi-transparent chemise made from very thin animal skin (closer to baking parchment than vellum). (Damage to chemise, see images, stitching a little weak at the beginning and end). Provenance: James W. Willis (ink stamp to front free endpaper).
