Description
A French Louis XV carved giltwood wall mirror of upright rectangular form, the frame elaborately carved with pierced scrolling rocaille, acanthus leaves, and floral motifs, culminating in a prominent asymmetrical cartouche cresting and a conforming foliate apron, enclosing an arched mirror plate.

Condition
The mirror frame displays areas of localized gesso loss, cracking to the gilding, and evidence of historical regilding throughout, while the mirror plate exhibits significant silvering degradation, spotting, and desilvered edges consistent with use and environment, though no technical analysis of the wood substrate or glass composition has been conducted to confirm its 18th-century origin.
