A nineteenth-century American acoustic violin by master luthier George Gemünder, crafted in 1858, featuring an original paper label with a decorative scrollwork border pasted to the internal back plate and visible through the left sound-hole inscribed "George Gemünder, / New York 1858.", constructed with a one-piece carved maple back displaying a soft horizontal curl, matching figured maple ribs, a fine-grained spruce top table, traditionally positioned sound-holes, inlaid perimeter purfling, an ebony fingerboard, and a traditionally carved scroll terminating at the pegbox

Good stable condition; well-preserved internal paper label displaying expected age-toning and silvering to the paper substrate with minor localized wood grain texture showing through, superficial varnish checking across the exterior sound-hole margins, and extensive historic wood oxidation to the internal chamber surfaces consistent with age
