made by Marshall Field & Co., Chicago, decorated throughout with engraved cartouches depicting the Marshall Field & Co. department store as it evolved between the years 1867 and 1917, the earliest date further engraved "S. Sanders," the central cartouche to lid with a portrait of John G. Shedd above "Very truly yours/ John G. Shedd," with fitted wood-lined interior, stamped to underside "MADE BY/ MARSHALL FIELD & CO." and "STERLING" to underside weight inclusive: 1,624 grams
