Friedrich Adolf Julius von Bernhardi (November 22, 1849 – December 11, 1930) , Prussian Cavalry Officer and author of works on strategy and tactics, remembered for promoting warfare as a near-holy rite of passage, advocating a "policy of ruthless aggression and complete disregard of treaties and regarded war as a divine business." Wikipedia.

Two volume set, pp. 396, 462, folding plates, publisher's list at end of v. 2; bound in full black leather, with gilt printing on spines and front covers; slight scuffing to edges, occasional foxing; generally very good.
