The San Diego Museum of Art, from its humble origins dating to 1926 to its current status as one of the nation’s premier institutions of the arts, champions a mission to inspire, educate, and cultivate curiosity through great works of art. The Circle is a vital leadership and philanthropic group in the San Diego Art Museum community that provides substantial support to the Museum’s renowned exhibitions, public programs, and educational outreach. A Circle membership brings a deeper connection with the Museum through a compelling calendar of social and educational events, as well as unique access to curators and the Maruja Baldwin Executive Director. A Patron Circle Membership grants access and privileges at the SDMA—including invitations to openings for select exhibitions, free admission, access to the Circle community of members and curators, and Insider Views behind the scenes at SDMA—as well as reciprocal access and privileges at more than 600 museums nationwide. Among the renowned museums participating in the reciprocal program are the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions in Los Angeles, California; the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in Chicago, Illinois; The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.; the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, New York; and many more. Beyond granting free admission to hundreds of additional museums, the Patron Circle reciprocal privileges include discounts at many museum stores and special events.
