Details
oil on canvas 25 1/2 x 39 3/4 inches signed lower right and verso
Provenance
From a private New York collection
private collection; sale Christie's May 1988
Condition
The overall condition of this painting is very good. The canvas, ground and paint-film are in fine condition. The surface is clean and free from dust and dirt. Under UV examination two small additions can be seen, in the lower-left turnover, and on the edge of the upper-right turnover. This retouch has been added in order to correct a hairline crack in the pain film that has developed where the painting wraps around the stretcher bar. This is not uncommon in work by this artist in this period.
