Pre-Columbian Colima Redware Effigy Vessel
Description
A Pre-Columbian burnished redware effigy vessel of globular form, featuring a sculptural human head with coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, and a slit mouth, surmounted by a flared, trumpet-form spout, characteristic of the Colima culture of Western Mexico. The vessel exhibits a warm, reddish-brown slip and finely modeled anthropomorphic features typical of the Shaft Tomb tradition, which flourished between 200 BCE and 300 CE.

Condition
The vessel is in overall good condition, displaying a uniform surface patina with minor scattered scratches and localized mineral encrustation consistent with burial, alongside a visible chip to the lip of the flared spout, though no technical analysis of the clay body or firing temperature has been performed at the time of cataloging.
