Layo Bright (MFA, Parsons) is a Nigerian-born, multi-media artist who has been a resident at Mass MoCA, Flux Factory, and Triangle, and the recipient of numerous awards, including those from the UrbanGlass Winter Scholarship and the International Sculpture Center. Bright’s works have been exhibited at such venues as Bond Collective (Brooklyn, NY); Superposition (Los Angeles, CA); Parts & Labor (Beacon, NY), Cuchifritos Gallery (New York, NY); MICA (Baltimore, MD); Mana Contemporary (Chicago, IL); and Smack Mellon (Brooklyn, NY), and they have been included in the Prizm, Future, and MECA art fairs.
Originally trained as a lawyer, Bright’s work is informed by critical thinking. It seeks to build visual compositions that address African narratives and create different vantage points for questioning issues surrounding the continent.
In this private studio tour, Bright will display both finished and in-progress works, and engage the winning bidder in conversation regarding her process and inspirations. This event will be scheduled on the basis of the winning bidder’s and the artist’s respective schedules, and it can be conducted virtually or in person (subject to COVID protocol).
