Samson Blue Scale Porcelain Vases, Worcester Style
Description
Two very nicely painted Samson blue scale vases after Worcester. Hand painted bird and insect decorations in panels on cobalt blue fish scale ground, with gilded highlights. The wider vase has a square blue fret mark on base. This style was popular and modeled after the popular blue ground Chinese and Japanese export porcelains.
Offered along with a Chinese style ginger jar which is likely a earlier Samson blue, or later cobbled with gilt accents. With a nicely carved pierced later wood lid.
