Description

The property of Sir David L. Salomons, Bart. [N.p.: n.d. but 1893]. 2 works in one volume, octavo (8 1/8 x 5 ¼ inches; 206 x 133mm). Contemporary red half morocco gilt by Bumpus of London, original wrappers bound in, top edges gilt (some staining to cloth on the upper cover).  Provenance: Sir David SALOMONS, Bt. (armorial bookplate); Dana Jerome Blackwell (bookplate).

Sir David was an inveterate collector, but he is now best known for his horological collection (watches by Breguet in particular). His niece, Vera Salomons, inherited when he died in 1925 and most of the contents of Broomhill were sold in 1936. The house, now called Salomons, does still include a ‘Salomons Museum’ which is open to the public.
