David R. Ibata (MFA, New York Academy of Art) is a classically-trained American painter based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. His work has focused on portraiture and has been featured in numerous exhibitions and has worked in educational programs at the National Gallery of Art and the Washington Studio School (on whose board Ibata serves). The artist’s first solo show was at Transformer gallery in 2019. Ibata is also an arts educator, presently on faculty at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
The winning bidder will receive a virtual private studio tour discussing the themes of Ibata’s work, which delves into concepts of masculinity and American culture. Some of his primary artistic influences include artists like Frans Hals, Lucian Freud, Velazquez, and Hopper to name a few.
