We are often very enthusiastic about property that may be below your minimums, or of a category that you do not have an appropriate auction for.
We can offer competitive consignment terms– occasionally even matching commissions that are built for much more valuable items and for property that might not be a good fit for your auction house. We are also often able to negotiate fair terms that allow us to give you a meaningful Introductory Commission for the referral.
Finally, in cases where outright purchase is desired, we are quite competitive for the better material, and still able to give a fair IC to the referring auction house
When working with other auction houses, the best partnerships involve situations where we can be helpful with property that is either below the other auction house’s minimum value, outside of their sale categories, or too many lower valued items, where the referring house wants to just cherry pick a few choice pieces.
What has worked for us in the past have been smaller consignments with individual value ranges between $500-5,000 or larger estate situations with a wider range of property that might include pieces as low as $200-300, but also include a few highlights in the $5,000-10,000 range
Collections with a minimum value of at least $20,000 are more practical for everyone involved, and while we understand that the whole point is often for the referring house to cherry pick a few items, the more items of decent value that remain, the more helpful we can be, and the better terms we can offer the client.
