How do I sign up to bid?
On our homepage, look for the “Sign Up” button in the top right corner.
Enter your information and create a password. In our current stage, there is no need to register for individual sales. As long as you know your login username and password, you’ll be able to leave bids and bid live during our sales.
How do I place a bid?
First, make sure you have an account with us and are logged in. Go to the site page of the item you’d like to leave a pre-bid on, and click the “BID” button. It will ask you to confirm your bid, and then your bid will be placed.
How do I bid live?
When the sale goes live, there will be a “Bid Live” link on our homepage. The link will take you to a new tab, where you will be prompted to log in again. You will then be entered into the CapsuleLive bidding platform, where we will go lot by lot during the sale.
What is the buyer's premium?
The buyer’s premium is a commission which is charged in addition to the hammer price of an item. The "In-House" Buyer’s premium is 25% on CapsuleLive. Buyer’s premium is 30% on third-party platforms such as LiveAuctioneers or Invaluable. Local taxes and shipping costs are not covered by the buyer's premium
What does ‘As Is’ mean?
For a full list of our terms of sale, please see them here. Capsule sells all property “As Is”, in the condition that the item is received in. While Capsule's specialists make their best efforts to identify any and all condition issues in our condition reports, our condition reports are rendered as our specialist's opinion and not as statements of fact. All Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any property in which they are interested, before the auction takes place, to determine its condition, size, and whether or not it has been repaired or restored.
I qualify for tax exemption - Can you take tax off of my invoice?
If you have resale information that can be used to defer sales tax, please submit a ST-120 for us to keep on file. You can download it here: st120_blank copy.pdf. Please fill out and sign and send to email@example.com so we may adjust your invoice accordingly.
I won something. Where is my invoice?Invoices are sent by the end of the day for each sale. Please check your spam folder.
How do I pay? What payment methods can I use?
Credit card payments are accepted for total invoice amounts under $1,500. Jewelry, gold, and silver lots cannot be paid for with credit card regardless of invoice amount.
For invoices over $1,500, please pay via ACH transfer, check, or standard wire. Checks can be made out to Capsule Gallery Inc. and sent to 508 W 26th St 4G New York, NY 10001. Our wire information can be obtained by request–please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For in-person payments for invoices over $1,500, we will accept cash, a business check, or a cashier’s check.
How long do I have to pick up my items?
Items must be picked up within 7 business days post-sale. Items left in our inventory for over 2 weeks will be subject to daily storage fees and/or considered abandoned property.
Can I pick up my item personally? Where are you located?
Yes! You can use this link to schedule a pickup. Remember that we must collect NY tax of 8.875% on all items released on-location to you or your personal courier unless you qualify for tax exemption. If you are sending a personal courier, please let us know their name beforehand and schedule a pickup with us by calling 212-353-2277 or emailing email@example.com
Our address is 508 W 26th St 4G (4th Floor) New York, NY 10001. We are in between 10th and 11th Ave.
Our hours are generally Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm. Please schedule pickups ahead of time (24 hours in advance) as we are closed on auction sale days. We do not provide packing materials, so it is advisable to bring your own.
Can you pack and/or ship the item for me?
No. Capsule does not provide in-house shipping or packing under any circumstances. We are happy to provide a list of recommended shippers.
What is your parking situation?
Street parking is limited; please plan accordingly. The nearest parking garage is located at 249 10th Ave.
I’m interested in consigning my items, where do I begin?
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org of the property or artwork you are interested in consigning with pictures and any information such as: media type, dimensions, provenance/proof of ownership and our Consignment Coordinator will get back to you shortly.
