Rebecca Perehudoff

b. 1953
Rebecca Perehudoff is a professional artist, primarily painting with acrylic on canvas. Although her initial post-secondary education was in law, she grew up in a household of successful artists, and art has since been her mode of expression. Perehudoff furthered her art education as a student at large at the Art Institute of Chicago and as a participant in professional artist residencies led by leading American and Canadian artists and critics. She obtained a Master of Arts from the Department of Art and Architecture at the University of Illinois in Chicago. In addition, she participated in the Art in Embassies program in Washington, D.C. Perehudoff’s artwork is heavily influenced by the north woods landscape where she spent summers as a child. Perehudoff attempts to recreate restorative and somewhat mysterious environments of forest and water. Random and sometimes humorous reminders of human presence or activity often find a way into her work. Guiding her artistic process is her intention to make paintings that, through color and form, are visually compelling. Perehudoff’s paintings have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Canada, and other countries. Several of her paintings are exhibited in public venues—including the Canadian office at the United Nations in New York, banks, and corporate buildings—and a diplomatic residence in Beirut.
