About this Lot

Updike. Heller. Cheever. Love'em or hate'em, these were the stars of the Post War American literary scene, proponents of the brash, satirical, humorous, pathetic, thoroughly American & thoroughly male perspective often as uncomfortable to read as it is well written. We can't guarantee history will be kind to them, but they did stir the waters a bit & probably will always represent the closing decades of the American Century, at least in some sense.

John Updike, The Coup, inscribed; John Cheever, The Falconer, early printing, inscribed; Ray Bradbury, The Cats Pajamas, Stories, first edition, inscribed; and Joseph Heller, Good as Gold, first edition, with a tipped-in autograph; Norman MAILER, The Naked and the Dead. (Early printing; author’s signature laid in); John UPDIKE, Assorted Prose (Inscribed; spine stained); Robert TALLANT, A State in Minosa (Inscribed), first edition.

Together with: 3 titles by Dominick DUNNE, 1 inscribed, 2 with signatures loosely laid in.
