Description

Small octavo (6 ¼ x 4 inches; 158 x 102mm). Pp. [i-xvi;] 1-183[-184]. Errata at foot of p.[xv]. (Repair to upper outer margin with seven words or part words supplied in penciled manuscript).  

Speckled sheep, ruled in blind (some damage to extremities: splits and chips [see images])). 

A nice unsophisticated copy of the first edition. "Although James Owen ranked as an Independent, he had leanings towards Presbyterianism, and he agreed with Richard Baxter in his low-Calvinist theology and in his moderation. His career is that of a definite Dissenter, but here again he showed willingness to compromise where principle was not sacrificed" (biography.wales). Wing O-708; ESTC R32194.
